This study overviewed aquatic products quality and safety in China based on output, quality and safety status, legal system and supervision, risks and existing problems. We pointed out the main challenges such as contaminated aquaculture environment, poor seed quality, unregulated inputs, imperfect laws and difficult regulatory coordination. Corresponding countermeasures and recommendations were put forward. This study provided reference to further grasp the current situation and strengthen supervision of aquaculture quality and safety. Overall, the supply of aquatic products is growing steadily, and the quality and safety level has maintained a steady and positive momentum. There have been no major regional aquatic products quality and safety accidents for many years.
