The current standard on life-saving equipment on fishing vessels were out of date and could not meet the demand of the industry. Specialized research was inadequate while foreign standards were often blindly adopted. Based on the survey of present situation about life-saving equipment on fishing vessels, the standard system framework was presented, including five subsystems: the standard of life-saving vehicles, landing and recovery equipment, storage device of embarkation and marine evacuation systems, and personal life-saving equipment. The details of the subsystems were listed. The system and the subsystems were analyzed,and advice on strengthening the standardization work of life-saving equipment of fishing vessels were highlighted. The standard system was constructed with the aim to eliminate the counterfeit and shoddy products at the source, reduce fishing boat accident, protect people’s lives and property, and promote “safe fishing” construction. ［Chinese Fishery Quality and Standards, 2013,3(2):29-35］
