A survey and research for the circulation of overseas Monopterus albus into aquatic trade markets of 4 provinces including Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan were performed in this work. The results showed that, overseas Monopterus albus into domestic market mostly came from Myanmar, Bengal, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia, among which their sales volumes and prices were far lower than domestic local Monopterus albus. Overseas Monopterus albus into China were mainly through normal ways of import and export trade. Except for some overseas Monopterus albus into the border provinces by car, the majority of overseas Monopterus albus entered into domestic market through air transportation. Tiny minority of overseas Monopterus albus smuggled into domestic market. The sales volumes of overseas Monopterus albus in domestic market were related to local consumer preferences and consumer market sizes, and sales in most places were higher in the first half than in the second. Aimed at the market circulations of foreign and domestic Monopterus albus, reinforcement on the nutrition advantage of domestic cultured Monopterus albus was recommended to guide consumption of domestic Monopterus albus and the food safety supervision for overseas Monopterus albus should be strengthened. On the other hand, it was suggested to introduce suitable varieties of Monopterus albus after comprehensive comparison on growth, stress resistance and nutritional quality of domestic and foreign Monopterus albus.
