Abstract:In order to understand the optimal size of all-female Paralichthys olivaceus into ponds, the researches for body lengths, weights, survival rates and economic benefits of all-female Paralichthys olivaceus with large-size (5 cm) and small-size (3 cm) were performed in this work. The results showed that the average body length and average weight of large-size all-female Paralichthys olivaceus (5 cm) were 24.08 cm and 183.66 g, while the average body length and average weight of small-size all-female Paralichthys olivaceus (3 cm) were 21.88 cm and 139.53 g, respectively. The growth rate of large-size all-female Paralichthys olivaceus was faster than small-size Paralichthys olivaceus. Nevertheless, the survival rate (60.57%) of the smaller Paralichthys olivaceus was significantly higher than the larger one (48.91%). Compared with small-size Paralichthys olivaceus, the aquaculture cost of large-size all-female Paralichthys olivaceu was higher about 10,000 RMB and the average profit rate was lower of 30 %. Besides, the average profit per unit yield of large-size Paralichthys olivaceu was 2.45 RMB/kg lower than small-size. The results indicated that the small size all-female Paralichthys olivaceus (3 cm) could achieve satisfactory aquaculture effect with pond culture by early to mid-May.
