Abstract:As an excellent food and an important natural resource that rich in bioactive substances, Algae is more and more popular among consumers. However, the potential harm of algae food in food safety should not be ignored. This paper introduces the general situation of the quality and safety of seaweed products in China, and analyzes the main quality and safety problems as well as hidden dangers in Chinese seaweed products. The paper points out that heavy metals, organic pollutants, and other toxic and harmful substances in seaweed products are the main safety hazards, and puts forward the specific countermeasures and suggestions for the existing problems, which lays a theoretical foundation for the healthy development of the seaweed product industry in China.
